Since we've found a lot of times before, HTC has just released the kernel source code for one of its devices via their HTCDev site. This time it has the HTC First on AT&T and just like before, the enthusiastic developers out there desiring to get wider access to these comfortably-sized device now have more instruments to do so. Reverences note each time that kernel source code are made available, these Is not a perfect set of proprietary binaries expected to make a totally custom ROM, but kind of just a few of the underlying code for the deep tinkers that would like to bother with the device's kernel.

We will not always look these gift horse in the mouth though, because whatever time a major device manufacturer continually releases kernel source it merits a nod for following the conditions of the GPL license. Enterprising hackers among us can grab a download of the 99.2MB file at the source link below.

HTC First is the one that we know before as Facebook Phone, and it was not do well in market. So, maybe the kernel source code that HTCDev release is just to push it on the market and keep it competitive. Since HTC is one of best smartphone manufacturer this time, and did a good impact in market and deliver some good Android device out there for us, we should see the positive impact here, that HTC did not abandon this unsuccessful smartphone (HTC First). We can appreciate their commitment to this release of HTC First Kernel Source Code.

Although it is doubtful to make a good Custom ROM, as we mentioned above, some developers may still continue to bring us a good one. We always hope for it.
